Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship Application is June 1, 2007!

 
 

Applications are now available for the 2008-2009 Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship to be awarded for study abroad. The Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship program is the largest privately sponsored International Scholarship program in the World.  The program began in 1947 and has sponsored more than 34,000 scholars at a cost in excess of $400 million dollars.  During their studies abroad, the Ambassadorial Scholars act as Ambassadors of Goodwill through appearances before Rotary clubs, schools, civic organizations and other forums.  The scholars represent their homeland and work to improve and further International understanding.

Rotary International District 7280 is offering one Ambassadorial Scholarship for study abroad for one academic year.  It provides funding up to $23,000 for tuition and fees, round-trip transportation, room, board, some educational supplies, and language training, if necessary.

District 7280 Awards $26,000 Scholarship
 
 

The Rotary Foundation has approved the District 7280 Ambassadorial Scholar recommendation for 2007-2008.  Ms. Shena L. Cavallo, sponsored by the New Castle Rotary Club, will attend Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, in Lima Peru.  Shena, a New Castle resident, is currently a Duquesne University student double majoring in Spanish and International Relations.  Active in a number of organizations with an international emphasis at Duquesne, Shena presented a very strong application to the District Committee.  She has a special interest in studying indigenous populations in Latin America.  Her career plans are to eventually work for an organization that promotes the rights of Latin Americans, particularly the rights of workers, children, and women.
