2007-2008

GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE

Would you believe this is our 50th District Conference?  Again this year, we have an interesting and informative program planned beginning with our opening session on the 4-Way Test.  We welcome the personal representative of Rotary International President Wilf Wilkinson, PDG Samuel L. Greene of Westlake, California, to northwestern Pennsylvania District 7280.  The District Conference provides all Rotarians an opportunity to celebrate our accomplishments during the 2007-2008 year and begin planning for an even more successful 2008-2009 Rotary year. At past district conferences, we have asked clubs in the district to provide a gift that represents their region at the plenary sessions (tickets will be distributed to all Rotarians attending the session).  The winning ticket drawn at random will be awarded one of the donated gifts.  We are continuing this tradition at this year’s conference.  We would appreciate each club in the district providing a gift from their area.  I would like to take this opportunity to remind all clubs in the district to bring all the eyeglasses collected by their club to the District Conference.  We will present these eyeglasses to Frank Smith, the District Governor of the Lions International, for distribution to those in need in Haiti.  I extend an invitation to all Rotarians in the district to attend and enjoy the fellowship of fellow Rotarians at our District Conference on May 9-11 at the Radisson in West Middlesex.
